Typical Magazine Shot Types

SHOT TYPES

These images are not my own but they are from a similar genre of magazine to what I want to create.

If the photograph is being used in a feature article it is usually a close up of the artist;

However if the it is an action shot then it is usually a medium to long shot of the band/artist;

This is essential because it gives the reader a real feel for the atmosphere and what the festival/gig was like.

Hair, Make Up and Costume

Hair, makeup and costume is important to magazine photography. Because they need to ensure that the magazine are getting across the right image. These things don't apply to the genre of the music I am producing a magazine on because they concentrate more on the actual photo itself and the bands/artists usually come in their own clothes and have their own individual look.

This is a website with some amazing photo shoots that have outrageous costumes and make up;

 Some of the costumes are more relevant to magazine photography than others.
